The sting effort, conducted by Riverhead Police and the Riverhead Community Awareness Program took place on Thursday, June 16, in an effort to reduce the sale of alcohol to underage children, the police department said.
Those arrested and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child included :
- Chaudhry Afzal, age 56, of Riverhead, an employee of Sunoco 4123 Middle Country Rd., Calverton
- Recep-Can Karakoc, age 24, of Riverhead, an employee of Mobil 415 E. Main St., Riverhead
- Karen Aparicio-Quintanilla, age 35, of Riverhead, an employee of 7-11 245 West Main St., Riverhead.
All three were arrested and transported to Riverhead Police Department where they were processed on the above charge and released on a desk appearance ticket.
The following locations were checked and found to be in compliance:
- Speedway 6305 Route 25A, Wading River
- Valero 5904 Route 25A, Wading River
- Mobil 3705 Middle Country Rd., Calverton
- Gulf 1879 Old Country Rd., Riverhead
- One Stop Smoke Shop 1698 Old Country Rd., Riverhead
- Mobil 1575 Old Country Rd., Riverhead
- Citgo 1050 Osborne Ave., Riverhead
- BP 1356 Old Country Rd., Riverhead
- 7-11 1050 Old Country Rd., Riverhead
- Speedway 870 Old Country Rd., Riverhead
- Empire 640 Old Country Rd., Riverhead
- 7-11 162 Old Country Rd., Riverhead
- Empire 640 Main Rd., Aquebogue
- American Gas 1427 Main Rd., Jamesport
- OK Petro 1212 E. Main St., Riverhead
- KD Beer & Smoke 121 W. Main St., Riverhead.
